In her role at ShuffieldLowman, Melissa brings a strong understanding of complex matters to her estate planning, probate and tax practice. Working from the DeLand, Daytona Beach and Orlando offices, she provides legal counsel in English and Spanish. Melissa specializes in techniques to help her clients preserve the maximum amount of wealth possible for their intended beneficiaries while maintaining flexibility in their estate plans.
She is admitted to practice law in Florida and holds both her J.D. and her LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Always in touch with her Cuban roots, as a law student at the University of Florida, Melissa was instrumental in starting the school’s first Cuban American Bar Association Student Chapter, where she served as Vice President. During law school, Melissa also obtained a Certificate in Estate Planning, served as President of the Latino Law Student Association and volunteered with the Volunteer Tax Assistance Program (VITA) to help those in need with income tax return preparation.
An avid traveler, Melissa has visited many place around the world, including Egypt, Turkey, Monaco, France and Italy, where she honed her conversational Italian. Her other pastimes include cooking and CrossFit training.
